Guatemalan journalist denounces receiving death threats after sharing COVID-19 testimony

"The journalist and social communicator, Otoniel Esaú Rivera Rivera, current vice president of the Journalists and Social Communicators Association of Alta Verapaz -APC-AV-, denounced he had received death threats.

Rivera presented the formal complaint to the public prosecutor after he received threats against him and his son via Facebook. The previous Sunday, Rivera Rivera participated in a Facebook live in which he spoke about his recovery of COVID-19; he said that he was seen at the Regional Hospital of Coban. However, he was sent a message that stated that he would be eliminated physically alongside his son, and additionally, that they knew his house and they gave him some specific details.
