"Freedom of expression in Latin America is at risk, gripped by the murders of dozens of journalists every year, which go unpunished, according to the outgoing president of the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), the Honduran Jorge Canahuati.

'This is a very bad moment for freedom of expression in Latin America,' where 'it has regressed a lot,' affirms Canahuati in an interview with Agencia EFE in Madrid.

And in his opinion, a fundamental factor for this setback is the murders of journalists, which are going to exist 'as long as impunity exists (...) as long as the material and intellectual authors are not brought to justice. That, for me, is the greatest source of motivation for a murder,' he said."
