"Carlos Gerardo Sánchez Mendoza, alias 'El 02,' and alleged criminal who was accused of participating in the murder of Zitácuaro journalist Armando Linares López, was released yesterday by the criminal control judge, Wilfrido Tapia López, who issued an acquittal sentence.
Until noon on Thursday [March 6], the Supreme Court of Justice of the State of Michoacán withheld information related to the release of 'El 02,' identified by the State Attorney General's Office as an alleged criminal in the service of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel.
Information provided by a source close to Armado Linares' family indicates that Judge Wilfrido Tapia ruled to release 'El 02' due to the lack of conclusive evidence in the investigation file that the State Attorney General's Office has been compiling since March 2022."
