"On International Women's Day, Medianálisis presented the 'Guide and Roadmap for Prevention, Self-Care and Action' for women journalists and social communication students in Venezuela facing workplace sexual harassment—a 54-page document offering concrete tools to identify, prevent and respond to one of the most widespread forms of violence within the practice of journalism in Venezuela.
Based on a national survey conducted between Jan. 19 and 29, 2026—administered to 129 women journalists and Social Communication students—this guide updates and expands upon the assessment carried out in 2021 by Medianálisis in collaboration with the Network of Venezuelan Journalists, which had already revealed that 45% of the respondents had experienced harassment, intimidation or sexual assault in the workplace.
This new study confirms the persistence of the problem. 44.2% of the participants stated that they had been victims of workplace sexual harassment, and an additional 13.2% indicated that they were unsure—bringing the percentage of women who have experienced, or are uncertain whether they have experienced, such situations to 57.4%."
