IAPA condemns attacks against Venezuelan journalists

On Wednesday, June 6, the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) condemned the threats and attacks against Venezuelan journalists and news media, reported the newspaper El Universal.

The organization also said that identifying and punishing those responsible is the only way to prevent violence against the press, according to Noticiero Digital, with information from the news agency EFE.

On Monday, May 4, a journalist from the newspaper El Universal filed a complaint with the Venezuelan Public Ministry, along with other reporters, after receiving a threat.

According to Globovisión, IAPA also condemned attacks against official journalists of the National System of Public Media that occurred during the electoral coverage of the opposition presidential candidate, Henrique Capriles.
