In its 28 edition, the King of Spain International Journalism Prizes has recognized the work of Argentine Diana Fernández Irusta; Colombians José Enrique Guarnizo, Waldir Ochoa Guzmán and Víctor Hugo Deossa; and Mexican Daniel Aguilar Rodríguez, reported the news agency EFE. The awards are among the most prestigious given to Ibero-American journalists.

Diana Fernández, of La Nación, was honored for her report “Aún testigos,” that recounts the lives of various children exiled in Argentina after fleeing Spain's civil war (1936-1939).

The award in the press category was given to José Enrique Guarnizo, investigative reporter for the newspaper El Colombiano, for his work about undocumented immigrants from Africa and Asia.

The documentary “The Truth” won in the television category. Waldir Ochoa and Víctor Hugo Deossa, of the station Televida de Medellín, were recognized for a series about people who have been disappeared during Colombia's armed conflict.

The award for best photographer went to Daniel Aguilar Rodríguez for the series “The Open Veins of Port-au-Prince,” published in the Mexican magazine Emeequis. The images illustrate the desolation and drama lived in the Haitian capital after the earthquake of January 2010.
