Journalist Fabiano Portilho Coene, owner of the news website i9 in the city of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, claimed he was attacked on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 29, reported the website G1. According to Coene, his house was shot at and a Molotov cocktail was thrown into his yard. No one was injured.
According to the website Grande News, police found a hammer in the journalist's yard with the words "Fabiano Carvalhinho hit with a hammer," most likely a reference to the killed journalist who owned the website UHNews, Eduardo Carvalho, who died on Nov. 21 entering his home, also in Campo Grande, according to Coene.
Coene suspected that the attack on his home was related to a report on influence trafficking by the state's Secretary of Communication that UHNews published just days before Carvalho's killing. i9 ran the same story on its website, reported O Jornal MS. The attackers remain at large at this writing.
