"The IWMF's ¡Exprésate! [Express Yourself!] initiative seeks to support the production of high quality journalism with a focus on gender and sexual diversity to bring to light the issues faced by women and LGBTQ+ people in Latin America. This April, the initiative will begin its fourth year of the professional development program for journalists in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Mexico with scholarships for journalism specialization in gender and sexual diversity.
The IWMF will select 60 journalists in the four countries to participate in the initiative. Those selected will receive training on how to produce more inclusive journalism and on safety for journalists, as well as the opportunity to receive funding to finance research and professional editing mentoring. Those selected do not necessarily have to be women or LGBTQ+ people. The program seeks to support a common understanding and better coverage of these issues."
