Bloomberg launches Portuguese news service for Brazil

By Maira Magro

The Bloomberg financial news and information company will deliver news in Portuguese as part of its real-time service for investors, the company announced (via Business Wire).

Bloomberg has expanded its Brazilian news staff by 80 percent in six months to provide hundreds of stories and headlines in Portuguese daily, including coverage of the Central Bank, National Treasury, and other business and economic news, O Globo explains.

“Bloomberg is...committed to providing timely reporting in the native languages of vital emerging markets, especially the Portuguese of Brazil, where finance, commodities and energy are experiencing record growth,” says Matthew Winkler, editor-in-chief of Bloomberg.

The company's Portuguese service is one of 11 locally targeted editions of its news service.
