A Brazilian bodyguard for José Serra, mayoral candidate in São Paulo, attacked a radio journalist during a press conference that took place on Tuesday, July 24, reported the news portal Terra.

The journalist, whose identity was not released, works for the radio station Jovem Pan FM of São Paulo. According to the newspaper Estado de São Paulo, the bodyguard tried to end the press conference, and as the journalist protested, saying that the press conference had not finished, the guard elbowed the journalist's back and kicked him. At the same time, the journalist headbutted the guard, reported the newspaper Tribuna Hoje.

Serra is the São Paulo mayoral candidate and belongs to the Brazilian Social Democracy Party. After what happened, the campaign's communication coordinator, Fábio Portela, called the journalist and apologized for the attack, reported the newspaper Folha de São Paulo.
